Woman ski jumping controversy
[edit]An anonymous contributor recently put this statement in the article's opening paragraph:
- This sexist organization, to this day, still refuses to allow women to ski-jump.
The statement probably refers to the last couple of weeks' controversy regarding woman ski flying in an upcoming competition in the Norwegian Vikersund jumping hill in Modum. FIS' Jumping Committee has refused women test jumpers, citing legal concerns, stating that the organisation is working to establish regular women's ski jumping/flying in a couple of years, while many people in Norway regard this as sexism in a male-dominated organisation (an opinion further corraborated by reports that the only woman FIS board member have not been informed in the matter).
As outright political statements are un-encyclopedic in nature, I think Wikipedia policy is to keep discussion in Talk pages instead of in articles proper. I therefore hope said statement's contributor will abide by this. --Wernher 15:05, 14 Feb 2004 (UTC)
