I'd say that is a good observation. Svetlana Lupescu was a sexy, leather clad dhampir armed with what has become Bloodraynes tradmark blades. I agree with the second sentence, but it is totally subjective and has no place in Wikipedia. Meekrob 18:51, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Unwarranted Edits and Reverts by User:Hmib

User:Hmib is for some unknown reason is continously reverting and editing my entries into BloodRayne. In October 2004 Playboy Magazine did an article called Gaming Grown Up and in the article they featured several videogame characters including Rayne from BloodRayne either semi or totally nude. Hmib says that it has nothing to do with the article but I contend that since it has a direct connection with the videogame's character it should be included. I did include a Warning next to the link that says the link does contain nudity. I open the floor to further discussion on this matter. User:151.198.148.97 16:20, 20 June 2005 (UTC).

I reverted it because, as a simple click on the link would reveal, that not a single tittie is in sight. The URL you provided was a dead link that automatically got redirected to the main page. The URL points to a blog. BLOG! Blogs are meant to be continously updated. Unless it's a main-page feature (which it's not) any nude pictures of BloodRayne is not going to stay there for long. Where did this come from?

... In the very end of Bloodrayne 2, Severin claims that the Brimstone society will have drawn their lines carefully, waging war on all vampire kind, including people such as himself and Rayne. This could mean that he too is a half-vampire or something of the sort. Apparently he might be replaced by a new dhampir who will help Rayne in her missions, secretly named LS.

...In the game, Ephemera is one of the more prominent villains, and is possibly Kagan's favorite daughter. It is implied that she is also a full blooded vampire much like most of Rayne's siblings. Ephemera is also Severin's old love and master, but Rayne took him from her. She even betrayed her sister Ferrill and stabbed her then threw her off of a shroud tower.

Has BloodRayne 3's story been announced already or maybe I missed something in the second game? Where did the storyline details in bold come from?

No, much of this is indeed speculation. At the risk of spoiling things, there have been no details released on Bloodrayne 3 and since Majesco are apparently scaling back their operations, a Bloodrayne 3 may not come out at all. Severin, during the game's ending does indeed say he is half vampire or vampire, stating as above that the Brimstone society will be against them. Though this doesn't come as a surprise to Rayne apparently, so I'm guessing she knew this anyway.

Also, the game does reveal a link between Ephemera and Severin. In a hidden video, we see Ephemera and Rayne talking. Rayne mentions she took something from Ephemera eight years ago. After a few seconds, Ephemera exclaims:"my black shadow thief..." and it is revealed that the subject of their discussion is Severin. I can't see why he would need to be replaced since if there's a third game, it might involve fighting the Brimstone society. The game's ending, if the hooded figures are the Brimstone society, seems to indicate that the Brimstone Society themselves are corrupt, one of the members being seen to sent demons of some sort towards Rayne's tower.

"Birds figure heavily into their bloodline."

According to the article, the Kestrel worship birds. I can't find any mention of this in BloodRayne 2, aside from this quote from Severin: "Looks like birds figure heavily into their bloodline." Did he mean that the Kestrel worship birds, or was he saying that the Kestrel were mostly female? ("bird" is British slang for "girl", and Severin does have a slight British accent) Neither. He was saying that they are vapires with bird in their blood.

Proposal to split article

I feel there is enough content in this article to warrant splitting the article into BloodRayne (series) (like the Tomb Raider series article) and BloodRayne 2 (currently a #REDIRECT to this article) while retaining the original article. —Metamorf 20:26, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

No, there it no need for a spliting of the Raynes. Since there may be no third part there is no justification for the split. Should this be the case in the future, then so be it.

Plagiarism

It is really difficult to deny that, in at least the visual sense, there is an apparent similarity between the two characters. At one time, the article mentioned this similarity without a claim of plagiarism. I would like to see the article mention the similarity, again. I'm looking to serve the people who come to this article saying, "Wow, she looks really familiar. Where have I seen her before?" Would you at least allow that the similarity is sufficient to override WP:OR in this case?

Don't get me wrong, though. I do NOT support anon's claim of plagiarism. Without a source, the claim has no merit whatsoever. I certainly do not support this editor's actions. If we open up WP:OR for this then where is it not used? The anon user is posting what could be considered libel to make a point I feel. Since we are dealing then with opinions and half-heard truths the safest route is stick with policy and policy dictates that no unsupported claims can be made. On Bloodrayne.co.uk this was denied by the developers - repeatedly, since the subject seemed to come back every few months. Yet, nobody seems to have ever mentioned the similarities with Chastity and Vampi.

One of their responses is cited in Durham_Red#Trivia.

Fact is, from the discussions on Bloodrayne.co.uk (not sure how much of these can be restored via Archive.org) it appears that Bloodrayne was initially meant to be Nocturne II. Early screenshots show Rayne's appearance much more similar to Nocturne's Svetlana Lupescu character, and if one digs deep enough it's possible to find an apparent concept sketch for one of the scenes in the game. In it, the character resembles Mynce rather than Rayne (which might indicate that the design for Mynce was a recycled version of a previously rejected one for Rayne) and makes reference to a "stranger" - this my or may not refer to the character from Nocturne. Castle Gaustadt appears in both games too.

Anyway, I agree that unless proper references can be given (and yes, I do intend to verify the contents of 2000 AD #1564 which the vandal claimed to be his source) this should be kept out of the article. --The Fifth Horseman (talk) 12:22, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Do you mean the symbol of the Brimstone Society? I couldn't find any cannon references to what it actually symbolizes. For all we know it could just be that the artist who designed the original box art wanted to do something cool with the two Os in "Blood", and it stuck. It is a modified version of an alchemical mark representing sulfur, or at least so did the game developers claim when asked about it on Bloodrayne.co.uk forums a while back.

Survival horror?

In the opening description for this page it describes the game as a survival horror. Which I must disagree, a survival horror would be like Silent Hill where the player is trying to stay alive and find a way to escape the enemies in the game. BloodRayne is a horror themed action game, the player isn't trying to escape, the player is instead hunting the enemies.
