Can anyone give me information about a protest march that took place in Port-Gentil, Gabon on 12th June 2000.
We are trying to prevent two friends from being removed to Gabon from the UK. We beieve they are at risk, having been active members of the PGP.
Having read a lot about Gabon and Bongo I have no doubt that there return to Gabon would result in imprisonment and harm. It is clear that Gabon does not treat prisoners of any description fairly. Bad treatment, food and healthcare in prisons is the standard.
Also can anyone tell me why the French government condones Bongo and the actions of his government. Would it be they have more to loose than gain if they tried to ensure fair treatment of the people of Gabon?

[edit]The government section of the "Outline of Gabon" needs to be checked, corrected, and completed -- especially the subsections for the government branches.
When the country outlines were created, temporary data (that matched most of the countries but not all) was used to speed up the process. Those countries for which the temporary data does not match must be replaced with the correct information.
Please check that this country's outline is not in error.
