Copied from Talk:Ostinato
[edit]Should Riff have its own article?
[edit]The importance of the Riff as a concept in jazz, rock and blues is so great, does it not deserve a separate article where it can be explored in greater depth? Ostinato is just a technique in classical music, the riff is the foundation on which heavy rock music is built. Stub Mandrel (talk) 13:42, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- It used to have its own article, but was merged here in 2009. I have restored the article: Riff, so now people can riff away to their heart's content! SilkTork (talk) 14:24, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

Use of "Creep" chord progression as an example image
[edit]The current image featured on the page is a good example of a chord progression or ostinato, but it doesn't feel like a great example of the short phrases or hooks that are mentioned in the various definitions referenced throughout the article. Would a different image that features a melodic riff be more suitable? CakeWithoutCheese (talk) 10:30, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
