The result of the debate was
Personal rant/observation/essay. Seems to be someone who goes to the university in question. Couldn't be bothered reading it, but doubt anything would be worth using. Didn't want to speedy delete though due to length. TPK 18:15, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. Lengthy POVs are perfectly acceptable in the talk namespace. Kudos to the anon author for keeping Wikiquette in mind, not posting it to the article itself, starting what appears to be a coherent discussion. We're free to not read it, and if it truly is too long, we can always move it to a talk subpage. • Benc • 05:49, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Abstain (for now) - I've never seen anything from the Talk namespace deleted. At the same time, this doesn't seem to fit very well with what the talk namespace is for. It'll get in the way of more legitimate discussion, and isn't directly discussion of the article so much as it is of the topic. --Improv 20:43, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Delete - Don't open the door to this kind of thing. Blank if kept. - Tεxτurε 22:27, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I think Benc's approach sets a better precedent. Articles must be NPOV. Talk pages are intentionally not held to the same standard. If it gets in the way, refactor or archive the talk page and leave a small pointer to the version in history. Rossami 03:12, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Archive talk if it is too long. The Steve 09:32, Sep 17, 2004 (UTC)
- I 'really' think it would set a bad precedent to start deleting talk pages. POV rants and such are acceptable outside the article namespace, and I think it would be a bad idea to open a Pandora's box like this. Strong keep. Yelyos 23:33, Sep 17, 2004 (UTC)
