Catherine of Valois married Henry V not IV

[edit]

It appears this article is wrong where it says, "In 1406, Henry IV repeated his suggestion that Isabella should marry his son, but was refused by the French court. In 1420, he married her sister, Catherine of Valois."

Untitled

[edit]

I'm confused by the portrait attached to this article - should there at least be a note that this is not a contemporary portrait of Isabella of Valois? or is it a portrait of a *different* Isabella of Valois? the clothing and the dates don't match.

Portrait of Isabella of Valois

[edit]

The portrait is definitely NOT of Isabella of Valois. As you point out, the costume is not of the period - it's 16th century. I think the portrait is actually of Elisabeth de Valois (1545-1568), daughter of Henry II of France. She was the third wife of Phillip II of Spain.

Reign as Consort

[edit]

Article has Isabella listed as consort through 1409, year she died. However her 1st husband King Richard II died in 1400. Wouldn't 1400 indicate the end of her years as consort as well?

One part of the article says she was married at six and another says at age seven. Not sure which is correct but needs to be changed. Also, due to her age being six. I think it makes way more sense to say "Married to" instead of "She married" since she is a literal child. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.159.240.114 (talk) 04:50, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

source of information about burial

[edit]

Goodrich does indeed give some information about Isabella's burial, but what is the source for the info about her body being exhumed in 1624? what's the source for the burial linen plated with mercury? 2603:6010:D201:CD2:21EC:1614:4A7B:411 (talk) 13:59, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
