[edit]If there's another Quenyaist in Wikipedia, would you include *Minenónar as Firstborn? I know there's no evidence for that word in Quenya (thus, I put the asterisque in front of the word). --Neigel von Teighen 22:16, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- If there's no evidence for it, then no, I wouldn't include it. There is plenty of attested information that we can add to Wikipedia without having to come up with our own material.
- Minya is actually first (compare minë, one), but I suspect that there would be some changes because of the excessive number of n sounds right in a row. Fortunately, we don't have to guess about this, because the world list at Ardalambion gives Minnónar as attested. This is appararently in The War of the Jewels, which I don't actually own and therefore cannot quote, but Ardalambion is fairly authoritative.
- I think I'll go add that to the article now. Good idea. (I'll give the citation, too, since apparently a totally different word is listed in the Etymologies. If you've got the book and want to look up that reference, please do.) I'm also changing the later text to make less of a philosophical statement. (I don't believe it was meant to imply that anyone is supposed to really know the reason why there is a division.) -Aranel ("Sarah") 00:07, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- First, are you the same Anárion I know from the elfling list? Then, you surely have read some of my (bad) poems in the list (as 'imaglang')!
- I really want to see this stub expanded. We could some work here, shouldn't we? --Neigel von Teighen 17:21, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC)
