Cheers - have been having fun reading through all the newcomers bits. I've been doing minor edits on some pages without registering, but now I want to get more involved, using my log in will be much more valuable!

Yes, Coffeelover, you can use cooking oil like the one in your local Tesco, to power a diesel car. However it has to be prepared and taxed with HM Revenue and Customs (I think there is a 35p fuel duty on biodiesel) to use it. See also Straight vegetable oil. 159753 14:56, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

A stalker writes
[edit]Are you the same Coffee Lover as this guy on Flickr? The reason I'm asking is that if you are I saw that you had some excellent photos of King's and was wondering if you'd consider putting a few of them up on Wikimedia Commons and adding them to this category so they can be used in King's-related articles on all the various Wikipedias.
Oh, and regarding the stalker thing, not really. I was looking through Flickr a while back for any public domain images of King's and so when I saw you listed in Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: King's College London the name rang a bell. If you're not the same person, then ignore this completely and don't worry about weird stalker Wikipedia guys. --Daduzi talk 11:09, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Hi - I deleted the article because it looked substantially the same to me, but on checking, it has been rewritten, so I'm happy to undelete it and put it through AfD instead. Warofdreams talk 18:47, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- As per your request, I've undeleted the image, but I'm uncertain of its relevance to the KCLSU article. Anyway, do what you want with it, within the rules on fair use images. Warofdreams talk 21:01, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
Image:Ricktrainor.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Ricktrainor.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok ☠ 19:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:Champers.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Champers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:42, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Kclsuofficers0506.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Kclsuofficers0506.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 15:52, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Typo redirect Rood Aston Hall
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Rood Aston Hall, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Rood Aston Hall is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Rood Aston Hall, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London
[edit]Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008
Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map
More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12
Hello,
I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.
If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.
The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!
Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.
Yours,
James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!
NowCommons: File:Kcl-logo.png
[edit]File:Kcl-logo.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Kcl-logo.png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Kcl-logo.png]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:54, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Macadam.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Macadam.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:47, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
London Wikimedia Fundraiser
[edit]Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.
Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 18:10, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
The Contribution Team cordially invites you to Imperial College London

Edits to the Manchester article
[edit]I'm afraid I have reverted your edits to the Manchester article as this is a wp:featured article and the edits were not done correctly. I have no problem with you adding properly cited information but blogs are not wp:reliable sources to use and the citations need to be complete and not just bare URLs. If you are struggling with the formatting there are citation templates at the top of the editing screen. Just click on the double curly brackets and select the appropriate template. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
