Put your text for the new page here. Hi. Just found this site. My maiden name is Trakis, and I was born in Prussia in l940. My grandfather had a brown Trakhener horse and I remember walking in the field next to him as he plowed with this horse. I was about 3 years old at the time. It's one of the few things I remember of Prussia. The other memory is of the cool thatch-roofed cellar where sour milk was kept and yogurt made. Also, potatos and apples and root crops were kept there in winter. My grandfather served in the army of Czar Nicholas as a musician. He played the clarinet. He used to say "When I was born, I was christened Jonas. Then the Russians came and they changed my name to Ivan. Then the Germans came and they changed my name to Johann. Then I went to Australia, and now they call me John." When he was discharged from the army, he was allowed to bring his horse back home with him. But he always maintained that while the horse was a great asset on the farm, it was useless to take it into town on market day. Whenever any type of military unit was nearby and they played marching music or any music that had cadence, the horse would head off in that direction and would join the entourage until they reached their destination. He was truly an old war horse. Hope this does not bore you. Not sure of what is wanted. AH
